Nobody should use this software! First of all, this software started out as alpha quality. Then it was modified so it could run on the Intel Mac. While that modification is great for many reasons there is no claim of improved stability of the product. Then, as if that wasn't enough, further modifications were made by someone (me) who only knows enough to be dangerous.

To summarize, it is now overly optimistic to think that this software is at alpha quality. Use at your own risk! But if you insist on using it...

Minimum System Requirements

• Mac OS X.4.4 or later.
• Intel or PPC processor.
• A few Mb free hard disk space on the boot volume.
• If you have an Intel processor:
  • The directory to which the DesktopManager application will be installed should permit suid.
  • The procmod group should be defined. It is unlikely that the procmod group will not exist on an Intel Mac with at least Mac OS X.4.4.

Recommended System Requirements

• You should be me, and be using my computer. This is the only computer that this version of DesktopManager has been tested on.
• If you are not me, you should be installing either Bertran Guihéneuf's Universal version or the original PPC version by Rich Wareham.
